Sean Burdette






Sean is entering his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Ohio State women's volleyball team. He
assists in all team training activities and is responsible for the scouting and game plans of opponents.  
He is also the Director for all the Ohio State Volleyball Women’s Volleyball Summer and Winter Camps
and Clinics.

Burdette comes to the Buckeyes after spending three seasons as the Associate Head Coach and
Recruiting Coordinator at Towson University. Previously he was an Assistant Coach and Recruiting
Coordinator for three years at the University of Pittsburgh. During his tenure at Towson, the squad was
the America East regular season champions in 2001 and was a semifinalist in the 2002 Colonial Athletic
Association Conference Tournament.  Burdette coached several All Conference and All Region Team
members while at Towson University. While at the University of Pittsburgh, Burdette assisted with all
aspects of coaching the volleyball team, serving as the recruiting coordinator during the 1998-99
seasons.  He was the defensive coordinator from 1997-1999.  In addition, Burdette helped the Panthers
to two Big East Tournament appearances.

Prior to Burdette's three seasons with Pittsburgh, he spent two years as a volunteer assistant coach
for the women's volleyball team at Ohio State during the 1996-97 fall season. While with the Buckeyes,
he helped the team finish as NCAA National Regional Semi-finalists in 1996. The team also boasted one
AVCA All-American selection and three All-Big Ten selections. In conjunction with his responsibilities
with the varsity team, Burdette also served as the head coach for the women's collegiate club team at
Ohio State from 1995-1997. He led the club team to a semifinalist finish in the 1997 National Collegiate
Club Volleyball Championships, boasting a No. 2 national ranking after finishing with a No. 1 national
ranking in 1996. His team also had three NIRSA All-American selections and four All-Big Ten selections.
Prior to his position with the women's club team, Burdette spent two years as the head coach for the
men's club team at Ohio State. In his two seasons, Burdette led the team to consecutive "Sweet
Sixteen" finishes in the National Intercollegiate Volleyball Championships. In addition, his team was
ranked in the top 20 every week of the season and in the final NIRSA poll for two straight years.

In addition to Burdette's experience at the collegiate level, he also has coached and directed several
Junior Olympic club teams.  He was the Head Coach & Director of the Pittsburgh Elite junior Volleyball
Club from 1997-2000 where he guided 2 teams to the Junior Olympic National Championships and he
was also the Head Coach & Director of the Bay Area Volleyball Academy in 2001 & 2002.  He was also the
head coach of the Matchpoint Volleyball Club 18-1 team during the 2005 club season.  Burdette served
as the head coach for both the freshman and junior varsity teams, while assisting the varsity team, at
Bexley High School in Columbus from 1993-1995.  He previously worked with the Central Ohio Volleyball
Club from 1993-1995 coaching the 14-1, 17-1 and 18-2 teams.  In addition to coaching high school and
junior club teams, Burdette has coached camps and clinics throughout the Midwest and East Coast
areas. Some of Sean Burdette’s former players have gone on to play for The Ohio State University,
Kansas State University, Towson University, Miami University, Ohio, University of Arkansas, Drexel
University, Gannon University, University of South Carolina, Eastern Kentucky University, Duquesne
University, Virginia Tech University, Ferris State University, and Frostburg State University.
